NESG to close gender gap

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has launched a platform to tackle gender discrimination. It initiated the NESG Community of Practice (CoP) on Gender to enhance equal opportunities for women. This coming after the 2019 WEF Global Gender Gap report ranked Nigeria 132 out of 149 in bridging the gender gap. According to NESG, this is a poor performance on a worldwide scale.

 

NESG Vice Chairman, Niyi Yusuf, who is also Managing Partner at Verraki, said the group noticed that issues relating to some large stakeholder groups such as women and youths may not be optimally resolved within the Policy Commissions structure it operates. Speaking during a gender meeting, he said there was the need to for the Communities of Practice to tackle these central issues that will guarantee a sustainable and vibrant economy by the year 2050.
